I started practicing yoga while attending the University of Colorado in Boulder. After training with CorePower Yoga in 2009, I opened the boutique yoga studio Urban Yogi in downtown San Diego, where I developed a yoga teacher training curriculum and certified over 50 yoga teachers (RYS 200).
I received an additional 800 hours of training with Soul of Yoga Institute to become a certified yoga therapist, C-AIYT. Through an integrative lens, I assess private clients’ well-being on all levels and craft therapeutic plans to address issues like joint pain, nervous system imbalance, and general health concerns. I see people as whole beings, and help their wholeness shine through body, mind, and soul.
I specialize in identifying dysfunctional movement patterns related to peoples’ occupation and daily habits. Counteracting those with yogic asana and awareness reinforces healthier posture dynamics, adds to my clients’ quality of life, and helps prevent repetitive stress injuries.
Becoming a mother in 2020 rocked my world, and inspired me to support mothers’ well-being during the developmentally-crucial first five years of a child’s life.
While earning a Master’s in Integral Health, I focused my studies on wellness in early motherhood. This research informs the therapeutic framework I discuss in the Yoga for Mom-Life podcast, and instruct in my YouTube yoga videos.
I teach locally for employees of Neurocrine Biosciences and at CorePower Yoga Del Mar Highlands. I also serve on the faculty of Soul of Yoga Institute’s IAYT Accredited Yoga Therapy Training.
I dedicate my practice to peace on Earth from within.
Waves of love,
Susana Jones
